Appointments Appointments may be booked by email or by phone: Please email the physiotherapist, Melanie Power at melanie@powerphysio.com or telephone 07804 16 86 36 If she is unable to answer, please leave a message and your call will be returned as soon as possible. Please remember to clearly leave your name and telephone number along with a brief description of the problem, and please state your address so that the physio may work out possible home visit times to offer you.
If more than one patient is to be seen at the same location, one after the other (for example residents in the same nursing home), a reduced fee may be offered. Payment is due at the end of each session and may be made in cash or by cheque supported by a bank card. If you are funding treatment for a friend or relative, payment may also be made via BACS (internet banking) for your convenience.
A note on fees: Fees are kept low by cutting out the "middle man" of a clinic. Also, private practices survive and thrive on their reputation and, quite simply, Power Physiotherapy is consistently busy enough to not have to charge excessively high fees! Melanie is acutely aware that for many patients, physiotherapy at home isn't a luxury - it is the only viable option, the availability of which is often sadly limited within the NHS, and she is commited to keeping the high quality service she provides affordable.
Private medical insurance claims If you have private medical insurance, you may be able to claim back all, or some, of your treatment costs. Please note, however, it is your responsibility to check the details of your policy and to follow the procedures set by your insurance company. Under no circumstances will payment be refunded in the event of a claim being rejected by an insurance company. It is recommended that you clarify the following before commencing treatment:
Insurance companies Many insurance companies (for example HSA) simply specify that treatment must be performed by a Chartered and HCPC registered (formerly state registered) physiotherapist, in which case you may simply provide them with the physio's registration details (available on request and also on all paperwork from Power Physiotherapy). However, some insurance companies require physios to also be registered specifically with their company. Melanie is registered with Aviva (formerly Norwich Union) and is also on a panel of experts providing physiotherapy for Physio-Link Services Ltd, who make referrals directly to her. Note: AXA PPP and Bupa patients: Unfortunately AXA PPP has not accepted new practices or practitioners for some years, and the rules regarding Bupa recognition have changed, making it difficult for sole physiotherapists to be recognised. However, Melanie also provides physiotherapy home visit services for a private clinic in North London that is recognised by Bupa and most insurance companies such as AXA PPP, so you can still be seen by Melanie but the appointment would have to be booked through the other clinic, at their rates. This is much simpler than it might sound - please ring for details! Following each session and payment, you will be given a receipt which you may then use to reclaim costs from your insurance company (with the exception of Physio Link clients, as the company deals directly with the physiotherapist). If your insurance company requires claim forms or reports etc to be written there may be a nominal charge for this, however you will be able to claim this back as the treatment fee will be increased appropriately to include this. Please note it is solely the patient's responsibility to check the details of their policy and to follow the procedures set by their insurance company. Under no circumstances will payment be refunded in the event of a claim being rejected by an insurance company. |
